eTick 1.4.2

The increasing incidence of Lyme disease and the rapid geographic expansion of tick populations in Canada pose significant public health challenges. In response, a citizen science initiative known as eTick has been established to enhance surveillance efforts. This program encourages participation from the public through the submission of tick photographs via a mobile application or the eTick.ca website, with trained personnel providing species identification.

Identification results are typically returned within one business day and are displayed on a publicly accessible interactive map, allowing users to view data by region or analyze individual submissions. All aspects of the eTick project—including app use, image analysis, and access to aggregated data—are provided free of charge.

Currently, nine Canadian provinces are engaged in the project: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador, with Prince Edward Island scheduled to join soon.
